UTR is of how many digits
The UTRs of NEFT and RTGS are of different digits. A 16 digit UTR number is issued for NEFT and a 22 digit UTR number for RTGS. When you look at your bank statement or mini statement, UTR numbers are also recorded in front of them. UTR number is not issued for transactions involving IMPS, UPI and AePs. The number issued for these is called transaction number or reference number.

The 16 digits of the UTR also have significance as information is hidden in them as well. The first 4 digits in this number represent the IFSC number of the sender’s bank. The next 1 digit represents the server used in the transaction. The two digits behind it are in the form of the last two digits of the year, like if the year is 2022, then 22 will be written. The next 3 digits are the Julian day number. There is a day number from the beginning of the Julian period till now and the last 6 digits indicate the sequence number of that transaction.
